University of Iowa, Football

Xavier Nwankpa is a sports management second-year student at the University of Iowa, and a defensive back on the Hawkeye football team! He is from Pleasant Hill, Iowa, and he has been a big fan of Pancheros his whole life. In his first year playing for the Hawkeyes, he was awarded the Team Hustle award.

Maya McDermott is a third-year digital media leadership major and student athlete at the University of Northern Iowa! Maya is a standout women’s basketball player—ranking as the third best free-throw shooter in program history with a 90.9% accuracy rate. When she’s not immersed in her studies or playing b-ball, you’ll find Maya hanging out with her friends and enjoying movie nights! She especially loves Mike Mike and “Roll Bounce.”

Gabbie Marshall is a fifth-year student at the University of Iowa studying health and human physiology, and she plays for the Iowa women’s basketball team! She ranks eighth all-time for career three-pointers; her 13 three-pointers were the third most in one Big 10 tournament, and she has 191 career steals.

Britta Curl is a fifth-year student at the University of Wisconsin majoring in kinesiology with certificates in disabilities rights and services and athletic healthcare—she is also the captain of the Wisconsin women’s ice hockey team! She proudly boasts three National Championship titles as a star player for the Wisconsin Badgers, and also claimed the title of World Champion with the USA Women’s National Team. When she’s not on the ice, you can find her in the great outdoors exploring nature or playing the piano and singing. Being from Bismarck, North Dakota, just minutes away from a Pancheros, Britta has been a long-time fan of the brand.

Tony Perkins is a fourth-year student at the University of Iowa and a guard on the men’s basketball team. In his junior year, he maintained an impressive average of 12.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game, and he enters his senior year having scored in the double digits 30 times.

Matthew Mahoney is a third-year student and wide receiver at Princeton University. Hailing from West Des Moines, Iowa, Matthew has been a fan of Pancheros for most of his life. His college journey brought him close to our New Jersey restaurants, where he continues to indulge in his Pancheros obsession.

Deontae Craig is a third-year student at the University of Iowa and defensive linemen on the Hawkeye football team. He’s received accolades such as the Coach’s Appreciation Award and second-team All-Big Ten by Phil Steele. When he’s not playing football or studying, you can find him hanging out with his dog, Kobie, and snapping adorable photos for his Instagram, @lil_kobie.

Sam Lipkin is a second-year student at Quinnipiac University and plays as a forward on the men’s ice hockey team. In his first year, he was awarded the ECAC Rookie of the Year, and as an NCAA 2023 National Champion, he assisted on game-tying and game-winning goals in the National Championship game.

Tamin Lipsey is a second-year student athlete at Iowa State University. Tamin’s record-breaking steals as a freshman place him among the best in Iowa State history and the Big 12 conference—and he’s just getting started! When he’s not on the court, he enjoys watching TV shows—his favorite being “Stranger Things.” Born, raised, and now attending college in Ames, Iowa, Tamin has been a Pancheros fan his whole life.
